Affirmation of a Joyful Faith
We believe in a Joyful God.
We believe that the Creator of the Universe delighted in the act of creating, and continues to find joy in all the works of God’s hands.
We believe that God called us Very Good, that God continues to delight in us as a loving parent ever rejoices over a giggling child.
We believe in a God who said there is a time for dancing; a Savior who turned water into wine; and brings communities together in mutual celebration and rejoicing.
We believe that the Spirit continues to move among us and longs to open our eyes to the gifts of God’s Goodness & Grace - that we would see with eyes anew how every laugh, every hand held, every wrinkle from smiling - is a gift from our Joyful God.
We believe that the ability to find joy in this world, to trust God, to rejoice, to have hope - is an act of resistance against evil and oppression and a sign of the Spirit’s abiding within us.
We believe that God wants us to serve with Joy - and out of our generosity and service, there is a deep joy to be found in loving God and neighbor as self.
We believe that God has envisioned a world for us with no more Death, tears, or pain - and that New Creation will be a place of abundant life, laughter, joy, and community.
We believe in a Joyful God - may we respond in kind with rejoicing.
